NX15 Model Selection

NX15 module front

This page helps you select the correct NX15 module variant before starting PCB design.

NX15 variants are mainly selected by two hardware decisions:

  1. Antenna type
  2. External Flash requirement

Model Lineup

ModelAntennaFlashGPIOTypical Use
NX15i32Chip antenna32 Mbit SPI Flash25Compact design with external Flash
NX15E32u.FL connector32 Mbit SPI Flash25External antenna design with external Flash
NX15i00Chip antennaNone25Compact design without external Flash
NX15E00u.FL connectorNone25External antenna design without external Flash

Naming Rule

Code PartMeaning
NX15NX15 Series BLE module
iIntegrated chip antenna
EExternal antenna through u.FL connector
3232 Mbit SPI Flash
00No external Flash

Antenna Selection

Choose the antenna type based on product enclosure, PCB layout, and RF validation requirement.

OptionUse When
Chip antennaYou need compact design and can follow antenna keep-out rules
u.FL external antennaYou need external antenna placement, enclosure flexibility, or better antenna positioning
tip

Antenna selection should be decided before PCB layout. Changing from chip antenna to u.FL later can affect PCB placement, enclosure design, and RF validation.

Flash Selection

Choose the Flash option based on firmware and storage requirements.

OptionUse When
32 Mbit SPI FlashApplication requires external storage or larger firmware/storage margin
No external FlashApplication is compact and does not need external Flash
caution

On Flash models, confirm whether QSPI-related pins are reserved before using them as user GPIO.

Decision Checklist

Before finalizing the model, check:

QuestionStatus
Does the final product require chip antenna or external antenna?
Does the firmware require external Flash?
Are QSPI-related pins needed as GPIO?
Is the antenna location compatible with the enclosure?
Is SWD access available for firmware bring-up?
Has the selected model been verified on prototype hardware?
