NX40 Module Pin Map

The NX40 LGA interface exposes power, ground, USB, debug, GPIO, analog, NFC, and trace-capable signals from the nRF52840 platform.

Design review required: The SoC ball names were checked against the nRF52840 product specification. The mapping from those balls to NX40 LGA pads is KORLINX design data and requires sign-off against the released PCB netlist and continuity test.

Signals Not Routed to External LGA Pads

The supplied schematic identifies P0.12, P0.15, P0.16, P0.24, P0.25, P0.26, P0.27, P1.01, P1.05, P1.06, P1.08, and P1.09 as not externally routed. RF, the 32 MHz crystal, and regulator-decoupling nodes are handled inside the module.

Integration Notes

  • Choose the approved VDD or VDDH topology; do not drive conflicting supply rails.
  • Treat DCC, DCCH, DECUSB, and other DEC nodes as regulator or decoupling nodes.
  • Route D+ and D− as a 90 Ω differential pair with minimal stubs.
  • Expose SWDIO, SWDCLK, nRESET, and ground in the programming fixture.
  • Configure P0.00/XL1 and P0.01/XL2 consistently with the external 32.768 kHz crystal decision.

External QSPI Planning

For a separate host-connected QSPI device, Nordic recommends P0.18/nRESET for CSN, P0.19 for SCK, and P0.21, P0.22, P0.23, and P1.00/SWO for data on the WLCSP package. Pin selection remains firmware-configurable. Keep this interface separate from the module-internal Flash connections on 32 variants.

Reference Schematics

The following source schematics help explain the module-internal connections. Treat them as representative until their revision is matched to the released PCB, BOM, and netlist.
