AS-614 Command and Data Reference

This page presents the commands and packet layouts documented in the AS_614 with AI User Manual, Ver.5.00 Jan.2025.

note

Model-specific reference Do not transfer AS-613 commands such as mreset, rotate, walltilt, presence-mode controls, or exclusion-zone commands to AS-614. They are not documented in the supplied AS-614 manual.

Transport rules

  • ASCII commands and data
  • Lowercase commands
  • Command terminator: LF or CR
  • 230400 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control
  • Send commands more than 500 ms apart
  • Normal command responses begin with = and end with !
  • Settings persist after power cycling
  • Reset after changing the mode or applying a new configuration
  • Initial output after changing mode or restarting with start can contain previous buffered state

Command responses

The manual provides query examples such as:

=15!

It does not define standard error strings or a response-time maximum. A host must retain unknown =...! frames, apply an application timeout, and avoid copying AS-613 error names into an AS-614 parser.

Flow and reset

CommandValuesPurpose / notes
startRuntimeStart data output. Buffered state can appear first after stop.
stopRuntimeStop output while internal detection continues.
reset-Software restart while retaining settings.
hreset-Restart equivalent to reconnecting power while retaining settings.
freset-Restore all settings to factory defaults. Use only in a controlled workflow.

Mode and configuration

CommandValuesPurpose / notes
mode1,2,3,4,5,6,10,11,12,13Select operating mode. Modes 10-13 require the applicable license. Changing mode resets coordinate limits to that mode's defaults.
exten0, 1; default 0Basic or extended data. Additional fields depend on the mode.
holdtime1..10; default 1Maintain object state during temporary non-detection.
led0, 1; default 00 enables detection LED; 1 disables it.
opt0..3; default 10 none, 1 distance, 2 reflection magnitude, 3 movement magnitude.
outtime0..3; default 00 mode default, 1 real-time, 2 once per second, 3 on data change for occupancy mode.
range20..150; default 40Distance threshold for merging nearby detections as one object.
response0..4; default 1Initial response: 0 fastest/noise-prone; 4 more noise-resistant and less responsive to small/fast motion.
setnumTable says 1..5; default 3Set detected-object count. Not fixed in vital modes. Occupancy section conflicts with this range.
static0..5; default 0Enable fixed-object detection to 1-5 m; 0 disables. Z-only result, used in Modes 1-4.
ptholdUse 4..500; default 4Lower values increase sensitivity/noise. The table also prints a lower limit of 3; verify firmware before using 3.
trace0, 1; default 00 renumbers targets from closest; 1 maintains target numbers.
user0..65535Store one user-defined value such as a serial number.
verQueryReturn firmware identification.
vitalhl0..2; default 0Fine-vital level: default, small seated movement, or very low movement/sleep.
wait3..43200 s; default 15Interval for no-target status output.
wave0, 1; default 0No waveform / waveform. wave 1 outputs 10 times per second.
zone0, 1; default 0Coordinate/general output / zone output.

Detection-area configuration

All coordinate command values are in millimeters.

CommandWall rangeCeiling rangeMeaning
xmin-5000..5000-4000..4000Minimum X coordinate
xmax-5000..5000-4000..4000Maximum X coordinate
ymin-5000..5000-4000..0Minimum Y coordinate
ymax-5000..5000-4000..0Maximum Y; one note says ceiling value is ignored/processed as 0
zmin0..10000-4000..4000Minimum Z; wall Z is positive
zmax0..10000-4000..4000Maximum Z; wall Z is positive
alrmin0..180°0..180°Left/right start angle
alrmax0..180°0..180°Left/right end angle
adumin0..180°0..180°Down/up start angle
adumax0..180°0..180°Down/up end angle

The default tables contain the typo adwmzx; the command table and diagrams identify the intended maximum command as adumax.

Optional and application-specific commands

CommandValuesMode / purpose
hbh300..700 mm; default 550Mode 13 mattress-top height.
hbw900..1600 mm; default 900Mode 13 mattress width.
hboffset1..9; default 5Mode 13 bed shift from 20 cm left (1) to 20 cm right (9); 5 centered.
wallside0,1,2; default 0Mode 13 bed-to-wall direction: head, left side, right side.
oht0, 1; default 0Modes 3/4 occupancy response: normal room dwell or fast corridor passage.
raw1..8; default 1Mode 10 selected antenna set.

The manual example misspells wallsiee; the command name is wallside.

Packet layouts

Byte counts include the displayed start and end markers but exclude any trailing CR/LF.

Mode 1 - wall position

#ABBBBCCCDDD! 13 bytes
#ABBBBCCCCDDDEEE! 17 bytes, extended
*ABC! 5 bytes, zone
  • Distance packet: target, signed X, optional signed Y, positive Z, reflected power
  • Zone packet: target, coarse X zone, coarse forward-Z zone

Mode 2 - ceiling position

$ABBBBCCCCDDD! 14 bytes
$ABBBBCCCCDDDDEEE! 18 bytes, extended
~ABC! 5 bytes, zone
  • Distance packet: target, signed X, optional negative Y, signed Z, reflected power
  • Zone packet: target, coarse X zone, coarse signed-Z zone

Modes 3 and 4 - occupancy

<A! 3 bytes, approximate total
>ABCDEFGHI! 11 bytes, nine-zone distribution

A-I correspond to the three-by-three zone grid. The manual does not define per-zone values above 9.

Mode 5 - vital signs

%ABBBCCDDD! 11 bytes
%ABBBCCDDDDEEEEFFFGGG! 22 bytes, extended
@ABBBCCDEEEFFF! 15 bytes, waveform

?ABBBBCCCDDDEFFFGGHIII! 23 bytes, waveform

Target; signed X; positive Z; power; vital state; heart rate; breathing rate; optional pulse/waveform.

Mode 10 - raw data

Each selected antenna contributes 128 signed real/imaginary pairs separated by spaces and commas. The manual conflicts on delimiters:

<real imag,real imag,...> example in Mode 10 section
[real imag, real imag,...] implied by start/end summary

Do not select one form by assumption. Capture and verify production firmware before implementing the parser.

Mode 11 - advanced vital signs

}ABBBCCDDEEFFF! 15 bytes
}ABBBCCDDEEFFFFGGGGHHHIII! 26 bytes, extended
{ABBBCCDDEEFGGHHH! 18 bytes, waveform

Parser implementation notes

  • Match active mode, start character, zone, exten, and wave before decoding.
  • Validate fixed widths, signs, decimal fields, and expected terminator.
  • Do not globally assign < and > without checking the active mode.
  • Treat initial buffered frames after mode changes or start as non-acceptance data.
  • Treat undocumented variants and malformed frames as unsupported input.
  • The manual does not define overflow, saturation, unavailable-value codes, target-index lifetime, error-response strings, or maximum response time.
  • Keep Mode 10 parsing disabled until real frame delimiters and maximum length are verified.
